Piran Kaliyar Sharif
Piran Kaliyar Sharif is a venerated Sufi shrine located in Kaliyar village near Roorkee, close to the banks of the Ganges River. It enshrines the tomb of 13th-century Chishti saint Hazrat Alauddin Ali Ahmed Sabir Kaliyari (Sabir Pak), revered for his spiritual teachings and miracles. The dargah is an important symbol of Hindu-Muslim unity and draws millions of devotees annually from across India and abroad.The shrine was established in the 13th century by Delhi Sultan Ibrahim Lodhi and is dedicated to Sabir Pak, a disciple and successor of Baba Fariduddin Ganjshakar of the Chishti Order. Sabir Pak was known for his asceticism and patience — earning him the title “Sabir,” meaning “the Patient.” He founded the Sabiriya branch of Chishti Sufism, spreading messages of love, peace, and service to humanity.
