Telangana – Pride of the Deccan
Telangana, located in the heart of the Deccan Plateau, has a rich and diverse history that spans thousands of years shaped by powerful dynasties, cultural evolution, and a resilient spirit of self-identity.
The region’s earliest roots trace back to Satavahana rule (2nd century BCE 3rd century CE), which established Telangana as a center of trade, art, and learning. Later, the Kakatiya dynasty (12th–14th century) brought immense prosperity, marked by the construction of magnificent forts, temples, and irrigation systems the iconic Warangal Fort and Thousand Pillar Temple being prime examples.
After the Kakatiyas, Telangana came under the Delhi Sultanate and subsequently the Bahmani Sultanate, leading to the rise of the Qutb Shahi dynasty (1518–1687) in Hyderabad. The Qutb Shahis made Hyderabad a hub of culture, architecture, and literature a legacy still seen in landmarks like the Charminar, Golconda Fort, and the old city’s vibrant traditions.
